Selling on Pinterest
In order to sell your products on Pinterest, you will need to have a Pinterest Business account.
Claiming your website
In order to start creating a catalogue of your products, you’ll need to first claim your website. On the ‘Business Hub’ page underneath the name of your business, if you haven’t claimed your website yet, you’ll see 'Website not claimed'. Select this to be taken to the page where you can claim your website.
Next to ‘Websites’, select Claim.
A box will appear giving you options for how to claim your website.
To claim your website:
- Copy the meta tag that is provided under the 'Add HTML Tag' option
- In a new tab, navigate to the SEO settings page in your ShopWired account
- Paste the meta tag into the Custom meta tags setting
- Save your changes
- Return to your Pinterest account and select Continue
- Enter your website’s URL in the box and select Verify
If the process was successful, you will see a ‘Connected’ message.
Creating a catalogue
To start selling your products, you will need to upload them as a catalogue within your Pinterest Business account by providing them as an XML data feed. You can obtain this for your products by using the Product multi-channel feed app.
Once the app is installed, configure how you would like your products to be sent in the feed.
Once you've configured the app, return to Pinterest and create a catalogue by following these steps:
-
Select the menu from the top left corner of your Pinterest business account. From the options, select Catalogues and product groups
-
Select the Data sources tab to add your product feed to Pinterest
-
Use the following field guidance for adding your data source:
Name - Enter a name here so the data source is easily identifiable to you, such as ShopWired Feed.
Product feed URL -
File format - The Product Multi-Channel Feed is an XML file, so select XML from the drop-down menu.
Country/region - Select what country/region you ship your products from.
Language - Select what language your feed is in here.
Feed login details - If you have password-protected your feed, enter the username and password that you have configured.
Default currency - Select the currency that you use in your ShopWired account.
Default availability - Products in your feed which don’t have an availability value will default to the choice you make here. Select what you want the default availability to be.
Data source ingestion frequency, Repeat ingestion and Start time/Timezone - Use these settings to select how frequently you would like Pinterest to fetch your data feed. As the Product Multi-Channel Feed updates daily between 5 am and 7 am UTC, you should select every 24 hours for the frequency and 08:00 AM GMT for the time.
-
Once you’ve filled out the information for your data source, click Validate source data. Pinterest will then show you if there are any errors and also how to fix them
-
Then select Create Pins
Pinterest will begin to process your feed. Once they have finished processing the feed, you will receive an email from Pinterest with the status of your feed.
