ShopWired theme support & design policy
All of the template themes available to install and use for your ShopWired theme are designed and supported by ShopWired by our theme support team.
The theme editor
All ShopWired themes are customised using the theme editor, available within your ShopWired account. The theme editor works by providing an interface for a list of theme 'settings' to be changed.
ShopWired Version 5 themes have the most customisation options available and also utilise a section and block system, so you have a wide range of options for customising the content and layout of the different pages of your website.
As part of your subscription, ShopWired provides support on all aspects of the theme editor available in your ShopWired account.
Any changes or customisations to the theme that cannot be achieved using the theme editor need to be achieved by editing the theme's code. Through your ShopWired account you get access to all of the files in your theme (HTML, CSS, JS) that determine how your website looks and works.
Theme coding changes
If you require changes or customisations to your theme that can only be achieved by changing the theme's code, you have several options:
- If you are familiar with HTML/CSS/JS code, you can make the changes yourself
- ShopWired provides a range of help guides that provide technical information about the coding and files used on ShopWired themes
- You can hire a third party (either a company or freelancer) to make the changes for you (by giving them access to your theme code)
- You can use the user accounts app to grant access
- You can use ShopWired to make the changes
When making changes yourself, or using a third party, before you begin you should ensure you/they have a good understanding of the structure of ShopWired's themes, the templating language used () and the implications of the changes that you are making. We recommend reading ShopWired's advanced coding customisations guides to assist you.
Using ShopWired to make theme changes
You can ask ShopWired to make changes to your theme's code by contacting theme support here.
Theme support can assist with any changes to your theme. Some minor customisations can be made free of charge, and other customisations will need to be paid for.
When you contact theme support, a member of the team will assess the task that you need completing and, if necessary, provide a quote for the work.
Payment is required in full before work commences. After the work has been completed, you'll be given an opportunity to test the changes before setting the work live.
Theme bugs
Like any software, ShopWired's themes are not guaranteed to be bug-free 100% of the time. As such, you may encounter a bug on a ShopWired theme from time to time.
Theme bugs are when a theme feature, functionality or available theme setting is not working as it is intended to work.
Missing features, functionality, theme settings or other design flaws that you perceive the theme to have are not classed as theme bugs.
When reporting a theme bug to theme support, a team member will assess the problem and determine whether it is a theme bug or not. Theme bugs are always fixed free of charge.
Third party changes
Before you or a third party commence on making changes to your theme's code, keep in mind that ShopWired's theme support will need to charge for their time in the following circumstances:
- Explaining how changes that have been made work
- Troubleshooting changes that have been made
- Fixing mistakes that have been made
- Undoing changes that have been made
Theme changes for new ShopWired users
ShopWired provides complimentary coding changes to themes for new users joining ShopWired.
ShopWired provides up to 2 hours of complimentary coding changes to themes. This complimentary coding time is tracked in 15-minute increments. The coding team will track the time taken to make the changes requested. Once you have used all 2 hours, you will then need to pay for most other modifications to your theme.
If you are a new user on ShopWired and would like to take advantage of complimentary changes, contact theme support.

Locked themes
If you have requested that ShopWired make changes to your website theme's code, theme support will rarely work on your website's live theme and instead will apply changes to a draft theme (making a duplicate of your current live theme).
If you wish to make changes to a specific draft theme, theme support will make the changes for you on that theme.
Whilst completing the work, theme support will lock all other themes in your ShopWired account apart from the theme being worked on. Whilst your other themes are locked, you won't be able to make any changes to the theme's settings or code.
It's important that themes are locked because when the work on the draft theme is ready and that theme is set as your website's live theme, any changes made to your "current" live theme or other draft themes (unless also changed on the draft theme that theme support is working on) won't be reflected on your live website.
