Older theme versions
ShopWired was launched in 2013, and since then, ShopWired has created and made available to users several different theme versions, from Version 1 through to Version 5.
Each time ShopWired creates new theme versions, it adds a range of additional functionality and theme customisation options.
Theme evolution
Version 1
Version 1 marked the start of ShopWired’s theme development journey. The early themes offered basic functionality and limited customisation options. Themes were primarily focused on essential ecommerce features such as product listings and checkout, with minimal flexibility for design changes.
Version 2
Version 2 introduced some important improvements, particularly in terms of mobile responsiveness and design flexibility. This version began to offer more control over the visual aspects of the themes, allowing store owners to adjust elements like colours and fonts.
Version 3
With Version 3, ShopWired introduced a significant leap in customisation options, giving users more control over the appearance of their stores with the live preview feature. Themes became more adaptable, with improved mobile layouts and a wider range of design controls.
Version 4
Version 4 themes marked a significant shift towards improving the user experience, both for store owners and visitors. Themes in this version had new layout structures and a range of additional customisation options for store users. Several new themes were introduced as part of the Version 4 upgrade.
Version 5
Version 5 represented a large step forward in theme flexibility. This version introduced drag-and-drop elements with the sections & blocks feature, allowing store owners to easily rearrange layouts without needing to edit code. It also included more advanced customisation features for typography, colours, and spacing.
Version 6
Planned for release in early 2025, ShopWired's Version 6 themes will be the most customisable themes ever produced, with a range of additional features, functionality, layout designs, and concepts.
Upgrading to a new theme version
ShopWired recommends upgrading your theme each time a new major theme version is released for the theme you are using. By upgrading your theme, you'll ensure that your website stays up to date in terms of:
- Performance (faster loading times)
- Google best practices
- Device responsiveness
- Compatibility with apps or plugins
- Access to advanced theme customisation options so that you can more easily manage your website's content
To upgrade your theme, install a new theme in your account as a draft theme and customise it.
If you've made changes to your theme's code (either yourself or through ShopWired), those changes will also need to be applied to the new theme. Contact theme support for assistance migrating theme changes to a new theme.
